Welcome to In Motion Fitness! We are excited to partner with you on your fitness journey. 

New to In Motion or to a class based gym? That’s okay! Our workouts are designed for all fitness levels and our coaches and members will make you feel at home. 

From the moment you walk in, you are in control of your time and pace. Our coaches and member mentors will work with you to make sure you feel comfortable with every exercise. 

Experienced with fitness? Not a problem, you will find our program challenging, diverse and fun!

In our Arden Hills fitness community, we roll with whatever your fitness goals are and pledge you will experience that sweet spot of challenge, accountability, and growth without the intimidation or monotony you find at many gyms.

The PUSH 45-minute, total-body workout class is led by our certified trainer(s) and feels like you have your own personal training program. A typical PUSH group fitness class at In Motion Fitness starts with a warm-up of aerobic exercises, an explanation of the workouts/exercises included in the fitness class, and finally a demo of the cardio conditioning and weight training movements designed to fit your ideal comfort level. As a result, regardless of your fitness or skill level, this workout is yours!

After some aerobic exercises and conditioning, we transition to the strength-training portion of the workout class. To start, our personal trainer shows modifications & alternative movements for each exercise. After you know how to do each exercise movement, you’ll then jump into weighted exercises using dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells, TRX’s, bands, sleds, bodyweight, battle ropes, weighted med-balls, slider boards…and more! We try to keep it fresh and entertaining. You can use the total-body PUSH group fitness class as a gym workout, aerobics fitness class, cardio weight training, or weight loss exercise program all with access to a personal trainer in one class.

FAQs

What is group training?

Group training is where an instructor/coach leads a class of 3-20 individuals through a workout. The benefit of this is that your workouts are pre-planned to be as effective as possible. The coach will help each member to perform the exercises correctly and encourage you throughout the workout!

We happen to think our coaches are awesome which makes the classes all that more enjoyable!
What can I expect during a workout?

Our classes include both a strength portion and endurance portion. During the strength portion you will focus on exercises that will best enable you to increase your strength and muscle.

The endurance portion focuses on exercises that promote endurance and stamina. This is generally higher reps, less weight and interval training.

We believe this combination of strength and endurance is the perfect balance to help your body be the most fit it can be. You can learn more about our classes here.
What is strength training?

We want you to be able to strong and healthy in whatever you choose to do...whether that be keeping up with your kids, running 5k's or marathons, or playing in your rec league. In order to thrive at any one of those, you need to build lean muscle mass. To be clear- we're not making bodybuilders here- just strong, healthy bodies!

Each class includes 3 different strength movements you will circuit through for a total-body workout. Typically you will see a major muscle group movement, a smaller muscle group, and a core strengthening movement. Example- Exercise A) Squat Exercise B) TRX Row Exercise C) Plank

One of the many benefits of strength training is the more lean muscle mass you build, the higher your metabolic rate becomes. This means you actually burn more calories throughout the day!

What is cardio/endurance training?

Our Cardio conditioning at In Motion Fitness is designed to increase your endurance, burn calories, increase lean muscle mass, and boost your mood and energy to get you through your busy days. We strive for variation and keep you guessing what to expect each day.

An example of what conditioning could look like:

8 Rounds of...
10 Sprints (short down and back/each touch is one rep so 5 total down and backs)
10 Weighted squat jumps
10 TRX Knee Tucks
10 AirDyne Cals
How sore should I expect to be?

Our goal is to make sure you cannot move the next day without wanting to yell an uplifting 4 letter word. Just kidding! 

With that said being sore is a part of the process, especially if you are just getting back into a workout routine. However, you shouldn’t be so sore that you can’t function or that it is painful to move. It is common for your first week or two to be a bit challenging. Sitting down and getting up, especially from the toilet, can be a challenge (and here we thought that was supposed to be relaxing…). Soreness is our body’s way of letting us know that we did some damage (good damage) to our muscles. This damage is necessary for the muscles to rebuild and become stronger. After a week or two, the soreness will subside. If you are extremely sore or too sore to function, you need to address this with your coach so that we can adjust the program. 

The best possible thing that you can do for soreness is to be active. Foam roll over the sore areas for 30–45 seconds at a time a few times per day, drink plenty of water, and go for a 30-minute walk to loosen up and increase blood flow. The activity will bring blood and valuable nutrients to the muscles to help them recover. Whatever you do, ABSOLUTELY DO NOT skip your next workout. We can always adjust the program for you, but skipping the workout will not help you reach your goals. As your body adapts to the training, you will become less sore over time. We also want to start reinforcing the habit of getting to the gym. Skipping your second or third workout makes it too easy to stop coming altogether.
What is a Member-Mentor?

Remember that feeling of walking into a classroom or a gym for the first time? Looking around, taking everything in, looking for familiar faces, and maybe feeling a bit overwhelmed? We've worked hard to prevent this feeling from happening to you. During your first few classes, you'll have a friendly face to help you feel comfortable and they are not a trainer...they are gym-goers just like you! These member-mentors will partner with you and your coach to help you navigate things such as where to put your belongings, where to go before class, what the exercises are/how to perform them, and more.

They are there for you and we are here for you! We want you to feel that "this is my new place" feeling.
